Zach "Fun Size" Makovsky has made quite a name for himself as of late. The Martinez BJJ/Jackson's Mixed Martial Arts product is the former Bellator MMA Bantamweight Champion, recently crowned RFA Flyweight Champion, and is a Top 10 Flyweight in the UFC. Zach Makovsky made his UFC debut as a late replacement for the Flyweight debut of UFC and WEC veteran Scott Jorgensen. Makovsky dominated the fight even though he was the underdog, winning a Unanimous Decision at UFC on FOX 9: Johnson vs. Benavidez 2. And now it has first been reported by FoxSports.com that Zach Makovsky will take on fellow UFC Flyweight Josh Sampo at UFC 170: Rousey vs. McMann in Las Vegas, NV.
Makovsky is currently on a 3-fight win streak since losing his Bellator MMA Bantamweight Title to Eduardo Dantas, and then dropping a very close Split Decision to Anthony Leone. Makovsky has fought since in Cage Fury Fighting Championships (CFFC) and RFA (where he was recently crowned RFA Flyweight Champion after defeating Matt Manzanares). "Fun Size" 's opponent Joshua "The Gremlin" Sampo, holds a record of 11-2 with victories over former WEC Bantamweight Antonio Banuelos, former Bellator MMA Bantamweight Alexis Vila, and most recently at The Ultimate Fighter 18: Rousey vs. Tate Finale, Ryan Benoit.
UFC 170: Rousey vs. McMann will be on Pay-Per-View on February 22nd. Makovsky vs. Sampo will most likely take place on the preliminary bouts card airing on Fox Sports 1 starting at 8 PM ET. This will be another great test for the Drexel alum Makovsky, and win against Sampo will get him even closer to a chance at fighting current UFC Flyweight Champion Demetrious "Mighty Mouse" Johnson.
