The MLK Day of Service was inspired by a quote from The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. He said,” Life's most persistent and urgent question is: 'What are you doing for others?'" He changed the course of history and inspired us to build what he called "the beloved community." On the third Monday of every January, Americans across the country answer that question by coming together on the King Holiday to serve their neighbors and communities. It is part of the President's national call to service initiative. It calls for Americans from all walks of life to work together to provide solutions to our most pressing national problems. MLK Day is a chance to start the year off right by making an impact in your community.
To remind others about the day, here are two door hanger designs, one of Dr. King and one of children's hands that can be easily printed. Use card stock. You can also use regular copy paper and glue the door hangers on the back of a cereal box, then cut to size.
