Following on an extraordinarily warm weekend and a Denver Broncos victory, Monday brings a bit of a change in weather to the Mile High City. Cooler, windier conditions will be seen and later in the week brings at least a slight chance for much-needed snow.

For Martin Luther King, Jr. Day a weak disturbance moves into northeastern Colorado. Coupled with a cold front temperatures will be cooler and winds stiffer.

High temperatures in Denver today will top out in the mid to upper 40s, slightly above the average of 44 degrees for the date. Winds will be picking up as the day progresses with gusts out of the north to 25 mph possible this afternoon.

Similar temperatures will be seen across the plains. Winds will be stronger the further east you go with gusts in locations like Burlington hitting 40 mph.

Up in the high country temperatures will mostly be in the high to mid-30s with sunny to mostly sunny skies. Winds will be breezy up there as well with dry conditions.

Looking ahead for the rest of the workweek, it will be one of ups and downs.

Tuesday will see temperatures in town bounce back to the upper 50s. Wednesday we should see highs in the low 50s before a cold front moves in later in the day and into the evening.

That system will bring with it a chance for snow, mainly Wednesday night into Thursday morning. Unfortunately at this time it doesn’t look like it will amount to much – from a trace to two inches. We’ll get a better handle on potential snowfall amounts as it gets closer.

Thursday will be cold with highs right around freezing. Friday will start a warm up that will set the stage for a return to the 50s this weekend.
