Martial Coup is one of 15 legendary Magic: The Gathering cards featured in Wizards of the Coast's From the Vault: Annihilation. Originally printed as a rare in Conflux, this powerful white sorcery can have a devastating impact on the battlefield.

Martial Coup - XWW
Sorcery (Mythic Rare)
Put X 1/1 white Soldier creature tokens onto the battlefield. If X is 5 or more, destroy all other creatures.
Their war forgotten, the nations of Bant stood united in the face of a common threat.

Martial Coup is an interesting Wrath of God variant. Not only does it reset the battlefield for seven (or more) mana, it also leaves you with a small (or large) army of creatures to win the game with.

One way to really make the battlefield uneven is to combine Martial Coup with cards which will pump your creatures. Ajani Steadfast and Honor of the Pure are effective cards, however a Cathar's Crusade will really shine here. You'll most likely want to play with other cards that can create creature tokens such as Elspeth, Sun's Champion.

Don't forget that Martial Coup creates Soldier creature tokens. This is important, as there are a few excellent cards that abuse this creature type: Catapult Squad, Catapult Master, and Knight-Captain of Eos are probably the most notable.

It should be noted that Martial Coup can still be played earlier in a game just to create token creatures, if a bit pricey compared to some other spells with similar effects at much less costs.
