Martial Artists Making a Difference – Gozo Shioda Sensei: A new book

A book worth noting arrived last week. Kodansha USA, the publisher of so many great books including many about Aikido, has just released Gozo Shioda’s “Aikido - My Spiritual Journey.”

The book will be reviewed here in depth in the near future. But quickly scanning the title, I can tell you it is chock full of great photos of the 9th degree Master Aikido Sensei, many of them showing him "in action."

It also includes a clear description of the heart of his insights into Aikido-- including the mental, spiritual and physical aspects of the Art.

One of Shidoda Sensei’s books, “Dynamic Aikido” was reviewed here before. He is also the author of “Total Aikido: The Master Course” and Aikido: The Complete Basic Techniques.” Both titles are published by Kodansha USA as is “Dynamic Aikido.”

Be sure to watch for the review of this great addition to anyone’s martial art’s library.

The book's ISBN number is: 978-1-56836-411-7

Kodansha also publishes “The Heart of Aikido – The Philosophy of Takemusu Aiki” by Morihei Ueshiba and translated by John Stevens, and Jigoro Kano’s “Mind Over Muscle – Writing from the Founder of Judo.” All Kodansha books are beautifully bound and in and of themselves, works of art.
