The new “Dancing With the Stars” cast was announced earlier this week, but it could have been a very different lineup. According to a March 4 report from Us Weekly, several big names turned down offers to appear on the upcoming season of the celebrity dancing competition, including Martha Stewart, Caroline Rhea, and pop star Austin Mahone.

In addition, country music icons Clint Black and Travis Tritt all said “no” to a spot on the hit show. According to Taste of Country, past country stars who competed on “Dancing With the Stars” include Billy Ray Cyrus, Wynonna Judd, Sara Evans, Chuck Wicks, and Kellie Pickler.

While Stewart was actually spotted in the “DWTS” audience a few seasons back, she’s not exactly known for her dancing prowess. But the lifestyle guru did participate in a pole dancing segment on her talk show in 2011.

This season’s athlete-heavy “Dancing With the Stars” cast boasts Olympians Meryl Davis, Charlie White, and Amy Purdy, as well as world champion swimmer Diana Nyad and NHL star Sean Avery.

NeNe Leakes, Candace Cameron Bure, Drew Carey, Cody Simpson, James Maslow, Danica McKellar, and Billy Dee Williams will also compete on the show.

The 18th season of “Dancing With the Stars” premieres on Monday, March 17 at 8 p.m. on ABC.
