"Marshall Mathers LP 2" is one of the reveals to come out at the MTV Video Music Awards. Eminem's "Marshall Mathers LP 2" announcement and the 'N Sync reunion that took place at the awards was like past decades revisited again on Sunday night's MTV Video Music Awards.
According to MTV News on Aug. 25, the announcement of Eminem's new album came in the form of a commercial during Sunday night's the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards. The rapper did drop a hint to his fans a while back that he was planning his eighth solo album sometime in 2013. So why not go big and put the official word out in a commercial during the music world, which is what he did.
Eminem backed the commercial by rapping a new track in the background as well. No stone was left unturned when coming up with ways to add some showmanship to this MTV Video Music Awards reveal of a new album for Eminem. It was a reveal that came on big and it came on strong.
The "Marshall Mathers LP 2" got a lot of press on Sunday night even before the show officially kicked off from Brooklyn's Barclays Center, Eminem Instagrammed a photo of the show's logo with the caption:
"Guess who's REALLY back? #VMAs." It's still unclear whether he also has a surprise performance in store tonight — fingers crossed — but one thing's for sure: His new album is coming."
"Marshall Mathers LP 2" is due to be released on Nov. 5. It is the sequel to his 2000 "Marshall Mathers LP." The new album is produced by Dr. Dre and Rick Rubin.
