The past week has seen a number of new concerts announced for Central Iowa music venues. Among those shows were dates for rock singer/songwriter Marshall Crenshaw & The Bottle Rockets and rapper Bow Wow. Here are the details.
Crenshaw and his band will come to Wooly's in Des Moines on Saturday, March 1 for a 9 p.m. concert. Crenshaw is best known for his 1982 hit single "Someday, Someway" (featured video), but he is also a noteworthy songwriter and actor. Crenshaw wrote the Golden Globe nominated title track for the movie Walk Hard and also co-wrote the Gin Blossoms hit single "Til I Hear It from You". As an actor, Crenshaw played Buddy Holly in the big screen version of La Bamba and John Lennon in an off-Broadway touring company of the musical Beatlemania. Tickets for the 21+ show are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. They may be purchased at the Wooly's box office or online through Ticketfly.
Rapper/actor Bow Wow will play Clive's 7 Flags Event Center on Valentine's Day (February 14) at 10 p.m. The event, entitled "Love and Lyrics", will feature the BET 106 and Park host performing songs from is catalog that includes six #1 singles. Bow Wow has also starred in a number of movies, including The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, Roll Bounce, Like Mike, and Johnson Family Vacation. Tickets for this 18+ show are $30 ($60 for VIP tickets), and they can be purchased online through B Squared Promotions.
