A married couple, both teachers in Polk County, Fla., were arrested on Saturday and charged with domestic violence when an argument they were having got out of control.

WFTV reported on Dec. 30 that it was the couple’s 16-year-old son who dialed 911 when his parents’ argument got into dangerous ground.

According to the Polk County Sheriff's Office, Timothy Martin, 47, and Donna Martin, 51, were having words in the living room of their home when the wife unsuccessfully tried to slap the husband in his face. Husband Timothy Martin was uninjured after blocking wife Donna Martin’s attempt to slap him.

Things escalated out of control when Timothy Martin produced a gun and threatened to kill his wife Donna. Police say that Timothy Martin also spat in his wife’s face, twice.

It was around this time that the couple’s 16-year-old son made the 911 call.

Both parents were arrested and booked on domestic violence charges.

The wife, Donna Martin, was charged with domestic violence-battery and domestic violence aggravated assault, according to Polk County deputies. Donna Martin is a teacher at Polk Avenue Elementary in Lake Wales.

Husband Timothy Martin, who told deputies that he was a teacher at Ridge Career Center in Winter Haven, was charged with domestic violence-battery.

Since their initial arrest on Saturday, the couple has since been released on bond from the Polk County Jail.
