Marriage and Parenting Adopted Children

Adopting children requires a special family. This is due to many unknown health, emotional, and educational needs that families encounter as the children become older. Some people adopt as single parents, but most adopt as a couple. Parents need to take care of themselves individuality. When the parents are married, it is paramount that they their marriage take first place. Simone Signoret, an French actress stated, “Chains do not hold a marriage together. It is the threads, hundreds of tiny threads which sew people together through the years.”
According to the Community Marriage Builders organization founded in Evansville, Indiana there are 10 ways to build a strong marriage. These are the daily threads that hold our marriages together:
1. Say “I Love You”
2. Practice Forgiveness
3. Bond Spiritually
4. Give Compliments
5. Write Short Love Notes
6. Listen with 100% Attention
7. Dream Together
8. Be Kind to Each Other
9. Have Fun Together
10. Greet Your Mate with a Hug and a Kiss Each Day
Our children each day need us in so many ways, but attending to our marriages keeps our families strong to deal with the challenges of parenting adopted children.
