Marquez says Chavez’s chances are slim against Martinez

World class Mexican boxer Juan Manuel Marquez chimed in on a possible middleweight bout between Julio Cesar Chavez Junior and Argentina’s Sergio Martinez.

When discussing the dynamics of a potential Chavez – Martinez clash, Marquez painted a very difficult for his fellow country man

“Martinez is very dynamic,” said Marquez. “He uses angles, movement, and an overall tricky style.”

Marquez believes Chavez would have to change his usual lumbering style, in order to be effective against the one of the best fighters in the world.

“Chavez moves forward slowly, deliberately,” said Marquez. “That plays right into Martinez’s strengths. To win, he is going to have to show Martinez something else.”

A bout between Chavez and Martinez has not been finalized, but discussions are taking place between their respective promoters.

In addition, Chavez has a June bout lined up before a speculated fight with Martinez could come to fruition during the Fall of this year.
