No. 22 Marquette took on No. 21 Notre Dame on Saturday Mar. 2, 2013, in a battle of Big East giants. However, Marquette made sure not to remember that they were ranked just below their opponents and took it to the Fighting Irish.
Marquette forwards Chris Otule and Jamil Wilson led their team to victory in a total combined effort of 35 points and eight rebounds. The two big men were dominant on the court and helped to push the Golden Eagles to the top for the night.
Notre Dame guards Eric Atkins and Jerian Grant led the Fighting Irish on the night with 37 total points, 12 rebounds, 11 assists and five steals, but it was still not enough to help see their side through.
The Big East Conference title now looks firmly in the sights of Marquette with two games left against Rutgers and St. John's University as long as Georgetown drops one of their reaming games against either Villanova or Syracuse and Marquette win both.
