Marquette ranked No. 25 in latest AP poll

For the second time in three weeks, the Marquette Golden Eagles (14-4, 5-1) are positioned at No. 25 in the Associated Press top 25 poll, which was released Monday.

The Golden Eagles, who were unranked this past week, upended the Friars of Providence, 81-71, on Saturday afternoon to win for seventh time over their past eight contests, as well as extending their home-winning streak to 20 games (tied for the fifth-longest streak in the nation).

In addition to the blue and gold, the Big East is represented by two other league members in this week’s rankings: Syracuse (No. 6) and Louisville (No. 12).

Furthermore, four Big East affiliates, while unranked, did receive votes: Georgetown, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh and Villanova.

Marquette, who wraps up a two-game home stand against South Florida on Monday night, is ranked 60th nationally in field goal percentage (45.8%) and are off to their best start in conference play since the 2008-09 campaign.
