Maroon 5's Adam Levine flaunts buff nude yoga body for prostate cancer

Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine is showing off his ripped nude physique in the February 2011 issue of Cosmo UK to raise awareness of prostate and testicular cancer.

1 in 6 Men Will Get Prostate Cancer

According to the American Cancer Society, 1 in 6 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer during his lifetime. Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in American men aside from skin cancer.

Levine, a yoga devotee, was happy to bare his sleek, athletic body to encourage men to check for signs of prostate and testicular cancer.

"I spend most of my life naked," Adam says. "In fact, I often have to be told by the people around me that it's inappropriate to be as naked as I am. But I live in California, where it's always warm, so why not?"

Girlfriend Anne Vyalitsyna, a Victoria's Secret model, is also featured in the cancer awareness ad. Her hands cover Levine's privates from the camera.

Adam doesn't mind shedding his clothes, thanks to his rippling physique, who was honed by hours of yoga. Levine, who began doing yoga several years ago to cope with back pain, immediately gave up weight-lifting as soon as he started yoga.

'Yoga Sculpted My Body'

"My first class felt like someone was ripping my body apart," Levine told Women's Health. "It wasn’t what you’d call peaceful. But I was excited by the idea that the more dedicated I became the more effortless it would become to relax and give in to that tightness. Yes, the torture subsided a bit over time."

Physically, the 5'10" Adam has always been lanky, but yoga made him ripped.

"I have always been on the slender side," he says. "When I started practicing I instantly felt more sculpted. Yoga carves you into a different person—and that is satisfying physically. I had been lifting weights for years. After our first yoga session, I vowed never to lift another weight again."

Levine, who's frequently on tour, says yoga is the most convenient way to exercise when he's on the road.

"You don’t need anything but a few feet of space and a mat," he says. "And I can always find at least an hour a day to practice. Yoga will drastically improve you in every way imaginable."
