Maroon 5 and Wiz Khalifa to headline 2012 Preakness InfieldFest (UPDATED)

This year's Preakness InfieldFest on May 19, 2012,  now in its fourth year, plays host to over one hundred thousand people with a day of music, contests, corporate-sponsored activities, and of course, wagering. The Preakness Stakes, now in its 137th year, is nicknamed "The People's Race...The People's Party."

Wiz Khalifa and Maroon 5 are the featured musical guests. The InfieldFest is promising to be one of the major concert events of the year with both of these chart-topping, award-winning acts. The two acts recently joined forces for the hit, "Payphone." (See slideshow, left)

Grammy Award-winning band, Maroon 5, surely have a busy, high-profile year scheduled for 2012.  The band's frontman, Adam Levine is a voice coach on the popular talent show, The Voice, with Christina Aguilera.  Maroon 5 and Aguilera paired for the Grammy-nominated hit, "Moves Like Jagger."

Wrapping up the "Rolling Papers World Tour," 2012 Grammy nominee, rapper Wiz Khalifa , will entertain fans around the world as they party throughout the day waiting for the late afternoon Triple Crown race. Khalifa sold three million copies of his digital release, "Black & Yellow," the number one single which led to his Grammy nomination. Coincidentally, these are the official colors of the Preakness. The Preakness winner is draped in a blanket of Black-eyed Susans, the Maryland state flower. Hopefully, Khalifa's color combo connection is a lucky sign that the winner of the Kentucky Derby is on its way to accomplishing a feat that has not been accomplished in over 30 years. Not since 1978, when Affirmed sprinted from the Preakness to win the last jewel in the crown, the Belmont Stakes, has thoroughbred racing's highest honor been bestowed.

Both acts will be part of a lineup of national and local acts set to play on the two stages set up amidst the sponsor tents, food and beverage concessions, and wagering booths.  Until May 12, discount tickets for the "5 Bands for $50" can be purchased by clicking here.  From May 13 through event day, tickets will be $60.

Check out the InfieldFest web site on Infieldfest ticket packages that include the Bottomless Beer Mug.  For more information, call the Preakness ticket office at 410-542-9400.
