Marlon Wayans is back on the big screen again with his new movie "A Haunted House." It is said to be one of the parody type movies of the “Paranormal Activity” franchise. This time around, brother Shawn isn't on the big screen, Marlon is the only brother on the set acting in this comedy movie.
The Haunted House movie
The film is based on a nice guy (Marlon’s character) who asks his girlfriend Kisha (Essence Atkins character), a long-term girlfriend to move in with him. She does so, but she doesn't just bring herself, a suitcase, and boxes; she also brings a demon with her. As the two begin to see what’s going on, they decide to use some technology and install a high-tech camera to catch the paranormal activity that’s going on in the house.
When the couple begins to see the proof of some paranormal activity, they decide to bring in specialists to exorcise the activity going on in their home. This is when you begin to see the other cast members in the movie, such as; Nick Swardson, Affion Crockett, Marlene Forte, and Cedric the Entertainer.
The Haunted House franchise
Marlon Wayans, the youngest brother of the Wayans clan; created the "A Haunted House" movie and is the only Wayans responsible for writing, producing, and starring in the new comedy movie. After things didn't go so well with the “Scary Movie” franchise, Marlon decided he would create and write his own type of parody movie.
During an interview on the Wendy Williams show, Marlon revealed some of the issues with the Scary Movie franchise, in which he revealed the fact that he and his brother Shawn didn't have anything to do with that franchise, they did not own that franchise. He also talked about how the franchise was taken from them and they had the worse deal ever. This is apparently why we saw Marlon and Shawn in Scary Movie 1 and 2, but didn't see either of them in the last two and you certainly won’t be seeing them in Scary Movie 5, which is due to release sometime in April 2013.
According to a Dallas South News source, Marlon was asked why he liked taking horror movies and turning them into comedy, he responded: “I think they share the same audience.” “The two genres are similar in that Horror creates tension, then it scares and then releases. In Comedy you build tension, then it breaks and you hit humor. So the two really coexist, making it easy to take one and replace it with the other.”
Has Marlon broken away from the Wayans clan?
During his interview on the Wendy Williams show, Marlon definitely let it be known, his affiliations with the Wayans family will certainly continue and we will see them collaborating on future endeavors. Marlon is currently working with a niece and a nephew of his on some projects.
We will soon be seeing the Wayans second generation of family on BET this month, January 15. This project, soon to air on BET is entitled “Second Generation Wayans” and consists of the nephews in the family. They will be showing the world how they do it now as a younger generation. The Wayans clan surely has more to show and is still very active in the world of movies and television.
