Marlins sweep division rival Mets at home

The Marlins were able to hold on to win awild game Sunday 10--8 to finalize the sweep of the New York Mets. It is the Marlins first four game series sweep since 2006. The Mets had not been swept in a four game series since June 2008.

The Marlins got off to a great stat with a six-run third inning that incldued an injury to the Mets' starter Johnathon Niese, who left with an injured hamstring, and two Mets errors. The Marlins had 12 at bats during teh inning.

In the fight inning Dan Uggla made it 7-0 with his eight home run of the season. It was Uggla's No. 130 home run, placing him third in franchise history.

Marlins' starter had a strong outing until the sixth , holding the Mets to two hits and no runs.

The Mets were able to cut the lead to 7-6 with 3 hits in the 6th and 7th innings.

Chris Coghlan was able to take the pressure away from Nolasco once again with a three run home run that culminated after a 12-pitch at-bat against Mets reliever Fernando Nieve to give the Marlins a 10-6 lead. Coghlans homerun was the Marlins' first pinch hit home run of the year.

The Mets were able to keep Marlins closer Leo Nunes on his toes by scoring in the 8th against reliever Burke Badenshop and 9th innings to close the lead to 10-8 but were unable to pull of the comeback.

The 10 runs by the Marilns tie a season high.They scored 10 in a win agains thte Padres on April 26.
