Thirteen-year-old Girl Scout Danielle Lei, sells cookies outside “The Green Cross” cannabis club in San Francisco. She has been asked back to sell another day.
On Feb. 22, 2014, from 4-6p.m. Danielle will once again set up shop outside the cannabis club to sell cookies once more. News of this young entrepreneur is out all over the World Wide Web. You can find articles on Mashable, NBC Connecticut, even Metro.co.uk. That’s right she’s gone global!
With headline like “Genius Girl Scout sells cookies outside cannabis clinic” and “A savvy young woman is selling Girl Scout cookies outside a Cannabis Clinic in San Francisco” where could she go wrong?
"It's no secret that cannabis is an appetite stimulant -- so it's not shocking that a lot of our patients came and purchased cannabis, and then saw the cookies and purchased them," said Holli Bert, a spokesperson for The Green Cross when Mashable wanted in on the news.
Holli Bert made it clear that the young thirteen-year-old did not just set up camp; Danielle's mother had contacted The Green Cross to set up the sale outside the store. Which she has been known to takes her two daughters to different places around San Francisco to sell cookies so that "they can learn about different environments," Mashable reported.
However, Danielle’s mother Carol told NBC Bay Area the family was not doing any interviews. The controversial report has people all a buzz. Should thirteen-year-old Girl Scout being asking would you like some cookies with your Marijuana is the question.
Did this parent go too far to teach a child about “different environments”? In those two hours, young Danielle sold 117 boxes, which was 37, more than what she sold at a local Safeway the next day, according to Mashable.
Therefore, while this marketing ploy paid off and the Girl Scout Foundation in San Francisco doesn't have an issue with it, others in the Organization do.
