One of my favorite sources, Doug Bruhnke of Growth Nation (www.growthnation.com) in Phoenix, had a really great experience recently and shared it through his company newsletter. It proves again that when marketing magic happens it is more fun than a big steak and a baked potato….it really fills you up!
Bruhnke said he had a hard time sleeping because he kept thinking about an upcoming customer meeting that day. He had been talking to the customer about branding and couldn’t quite get to where they wanted to be. After waking up, he poured some tea, did a bit of research and a lot of thought was given to the customer and the idea came to him. At the meeting he introduced the idea and got a lot of support and applause, which opened the door to some good mojo.
The moral of the story is that marketing magic can happen with a foundation of strong brand positioning for clients. Once again we hear that familiar word, targeting the right people and defining the message. As Bruhnke notes, this makes the marketing pros job and the client’s job much easier.
Bruhnke's approach, he reports, helped two clients get ahead on their marketing efforts. One of them, he says, is a regional service provider who gained a large new customer for a new product that Growth Nation had helped define recently. The other company is even larger and operates on an international basis. They received a positive result from a major prospect who can sign on and transform the local business.
You can actually see the grin on Bruhnke’s face as he writes about this marketing magic. “We find that magic starts after getting the basics right: create strong brand positioning; use creativity to develop a great strategy and plan and execute,” writes Bruhnke. The rabbit coming out of the hat is when the results start coming in.
