As time passes, it seems that a new holiday is created on a weekly basis and many of them have not hit mainstream America yet. National Bubble Bath Day was yesterday, January 8th. If you did not know about this day of luxury, get ready to indulge in the splendors of the bubbles for 2014.
During my grocery shopping yesterday, I was one of the lucky ones that discovered National Bubble Bath Day was being celebrated. Walking down the aisles, I noticed a significant crowd looking at all the different types of bubble baths. I thought that was rather unusual; I did not see a big sale sign so being the curious being that I am, I wandered over to the group.
Hearing laughter and decisions being made about which product to use for the day, I just had to ask. What was this all about? Why the frenzy? Why the squeals of delight? One of the customers told me, "It's National Bubble Bath Day. Join in and pick your favorite one for relaxing." What a great idea. Having a national day for taking a long, relaxing, intoxicating bubble bath was a present. Even if the time was not available, I knew that I had to partake in the holiday. Just as many fellow Austinites knew, I could not be left out. This was too good to be true.
As they were looking at all the brands, different flavors, smells, colors and even the designs, I went back in time. The only bubble bath that ever truly relaxed me was from my childhood. I had to find my favorite guy, Mr. Bubble. There he was, on a lower shelf than the rest of the designer brands. How dare he be located beneath them. He is pure, the best and he is hypo-allergenic. He was my guy and I am sure that other baby boomers would agree. Celebrating over 50 years of fun, Mr. Bubble is the original. I would not settle for anything less.
For the first time in many years, I purchased Mr. Bubble and I could not wait for my significant other to get home. I set the mood for a bubble bath and lit some candles. I brought in two glasses of wine and started pouring in the hot water as I poured Mr. Bubble into the tub. I was a kid again as I watched the bubbles multiply and I could not wait to get in the tub. I would have to say that this day is one of the best National Days invented. Ken agrees and we both decided that we are going to celebrate with Mr. Bubble on a frequent basis.
Remember this day. It was made for all of us to relax, indulge and make the time to enjoy the little things in life. When it comes down to basics, nothing can make me smile like Mr. Bubble!
