Actor Mark Wahlberg is a Boston native and huge Boston Red Sox fan but he is okay with Jacoby Ellsbury going to New York and playing with the rival New York Yankees. He gave his okay in a video interview posted on TMZ on December 5.

In the view Wahlberg was asked about the Ellsbury deal. He responded like many Red Sox fans have responded to the center fielder jumping ship.

“We got the ring already, let him get his money.”

Jacoby Ellsbury’s 7-year $53 million deal with the Yankees came as a surprise. Fans weren’t surprise that Ellsbury may possibly be in another uniform next year. The surprise part came that the team would be the New York Yankees.

It’s not like it’s the first time a popular player has joined the Bronx Bombers. Johnny Damon, Wade Boggs, Kevin Youkilis and Roger Clemens have all done it. Wahlberg expressed that and also expressed his happiness for Ellsbury.

“I’m actually very happy for him, he’s a great guy and played fantastic.”

He is just happy that they didn’t take the Dustin Pedroia or David Ortiz. Now that would hurt the heart of any Red Sox fan.
