"We are thrilled to welcome a superstar like Mark Wahlberg as he takes the helm as our master of ceremonies at the biggest kid event of the year," said Russell Hicks, Nickelodeon's president of content development and production. "We can't wait for him to host and have lots of slime-filled fun with Hollywood's biggest stars and our audience."

The father of four knows a thing or two about kiddie entertainment. In 2012, he told Redbook he loved the movie “Tangled.” I was bawling my eyes out, because it's about a girl who gets taken away from her parents,” he said. “Any movies where kids are taken from their parents just tear me up.”

Wahlberg joins an impressive lineup of celebs who’ve hosted the slime-friendly awards show.

Last year, host Josh Duhamel told Us Weekly, “Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Awards is a great event that celebrates kids by honoring their opinions and taps into the kid in all of us. I have a lot of secret plans for when I host the awards, but I can tell you I'm excited to lead millions of kids into total crazy fun, chaos . . . and, of course, endless slime!"

In 2012, Philly native and “Men in Black 3” star Will Smith hosted the show. The 10-time KCA winner told his audience the two secrets to success in a 2005 acceptance speech. “I want to say something that I want you to remember for the rest of your lives, okay? I want you to listen closely… The key to life is running and reading,” he said.

Other hosts have included Rosie O’Donnell, Jack Black, Kevin James, Cameron Diaz and Justin Timberlake.

The 27th annual Kids' Choice Awards will air live March 29 on Nickelodeon.
