"Give me liberty or give me a grope," was Mark Steyn's final quip on the subject of the growing anger over intrusive scans and pat-downs at airports.
The screening nightmares are just in time for the holidays, with Thanksgiving fliers being shocked and left in tears as they submit to indecent exposure of their bodies through scanning or physical liberties with their bodies, groping and fondling, by strangers all in the name of airport security.
Steyn, never at a loss for words had a lot to say on the subject of the TSA's intrusive airport screenings, as transcribed below from Sean Hannity's show:
...exactly what you don't want in this situation, they are following what they call, to use what I saw the head guy at the airport yesterday, Quote - standard procedure -Unquote. They would be better off using human judgment because the next time something happens it will be because everybody was brain dead and followed standard procedures.
In the same way that thousands of people died on September 11th, because everybody followed the standard procedure of outmoded 1970's.
We caught the millennium bomber at the British Columbia Washington State boarding, not because we were examining his hair gel or because we were feeling around in his underwear, but because the agent used simple human judgment about how nervous and shifty he was. If we had had this system in place, he would have whizzed through and he would have wound up blowing up LA Airport.
This is the insanity. Lanny Davis is so worried about appearing politically incorrect, he would rather government bureaucrats have their hands down the underwear 300 million law abiding Americans. This is absurd! You've got a great nation here and you're groping yourself over the cliff into oblivion with this absurdity...
This is the tragedy. The liberals used to be very good on the idea that you couldn't subject someone to undue search and intimate full body searches without probable cause. This was one thing that liberals were classically very good on. The ACLU and everybody else.
And it's a tragedy to me that we now accept the right of government bureaucrats to poke around in our private parts because we're wedded to the pretense that all seven billion people on this planet are an equal security threat to the United States of America...
Give me liberty or give me a grope; that's what it's come to...

Damn it, PROFILE!!!!
The late hours have been spent in a circle of prayer for a dear friend. >:d<
TSA listen up... "standard procedure" (following orders) did not work in Nuremberg either.
Ahhh yes, Mark Steyn ~ gotta love him!
"simple human judgment" = PROFILE!!!!!
After 9/11, Israel sent over their best and brightest to show us how it (airline security) is done. We, of course, poo poo'd the whole idea, and set off on an asinine course of after-the-fact over-reaction, instead of pro-action ~~ and 10 years later you see where we are. YES ~ profiling is the best, and only way to go ~ BUT, due to the moronic and debilitating POLITICAL CORRECTNESS scourging our country, we will continue down this road of asinine over-reaction........and groping! Amusing though to see the libbies now stomping their feet about the *results* of the political correctness they have embraced and insisted on........a self-inflicted consequence.
Steyn is brilliant!
I say again too, PROFILE! Use simple human judgment!
