Mark Hamill In Talks To Play Luke Skywalker Again

Although there is no script and no contracts have been signed, Mark Hamill has announced that he has been talking to the powers that be at Disney about reprising his role as Luke Skywalker in the next installment in the Star Wars saga—Episode VII.

Will the Force still be with them over thirty-five years later? Fans sure think so, that is now that Star Wars creator, George Lucas is taking a backseat and new Lucasfilm honcho, Kathleen Kennedy and director J.J. Abrams are taking over the reins of one of the most beloved film franchises in movie history (and also the most hated if you count the new trilogy—episodes 1-3).

"We're in the stage where they want us to go in and meet with Michael Arndt, who is the writer, and Kathleen Kennedy, who is going to run Lucasfilm,” Hamill told Entertainment Tonight. Hamill also told ET that Lucas had explained to him that characters would be written out, if he [Hamill) or anyone else from episodes 4-6 didn’t want to return for the new film.

In addition to Hamill, Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher have both expressed interest in returning to that galaxy, far, far, away. So it looks like with the big three back, there’s going to be a lot of Star Wars hype for the next few years, until the movie comes out.

So are you jazzed about the new Star Wars film? Please let us know what you think.
