Mark Hamill confirms 'Star Wars' casting talks

Wednesday on Entertainment TonightStar Wars’ lead Mark Hamill confirmed earlier reports that he is in talks to play Luke Skywalker again. Hamill originated the role in the 1977 film "Star Wars" and it’s sequels "the Empire Strikes Back" and "Return of the Jedi". Fans anticipate the new films being released by Disney will feature a new cast as the children of the original characters who will all make at least cameos.

Mark told Entertainment Tonight, "They're talking to us [Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford]. George [Lucas] wanted to know whether we'd be interested. He did say that if we didn't want to do it, they wouldn't cast another actor in our parts - they would write us out.”

Latino Review previously reported on Harrison Ford's interest in returning to the role that made him a star.

While a “Star Wars” film without Luke, Leia and Han is inconceivable to many fans it is unknown whether Carrie Fisher’s recent struggles will prevent her return to the series.
