Former U.S. Rep. Mark Foley, who resigned from his Florida congressional post in Sept. 2006 following inappropriate instant message exchanges with juvenile pages, reacts today to a statement from golf legend Tiger Woods.
“I am sure many are enjoying Tiger Woods’ fall from grace as they did mine and Dave Letterman's,” Foley writes on his Facebook account.
Woods, through his Web site, apologized Wednesday to his family for “transgressions” almost a week after the 33-year-old suffered cuts to his face during a Nov. 27 car accident outside his Orlando home.
“I have not been true to my values and the behavior my family deserves,” Woods posted on tigerwoods.com.
Rumors of Woods’ infidelity have sparked a media firestorm around one of the few athletes whose private life had previously avoided scrutiny.
Foley -- whose Facebook account boasts 1,720 friends -- posted a sympathetic message toward Woods Wednesday afternoon.
“Laughing at others’ failures is a sure sign that someday your transgressions may come home to roost. We all fall short of perfection," Foley writes. "Technology will continue to track and trip us. Be mindful and grateful it’s not you on the front pages today.”
Foley dominated front page news during much of late 2006 and has since kept a low profile as a West Palm Beach real estate consultant. Since November the Republican has hosted the weekly “Foley on Politics” live radio show on North Palm Beach’s Seaview AM 960.
“It’s taken the last couple of years to get my feet under me again,” Foley told the Tampa Liberal Examiner in September.
“I took responsibility. I resigned the job I loved."

Well done. Interesting angle. I just wish there could be one rich and famous person who doesn't let money, power and sex get the best o him or her. I'm happy for my anonymity and for my hubby who is the best ever...
