According to Fox News Lakers owner Jerry Buss died at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, after a long battle with Cancer. However, although he struggled with the terminal illness his cause of death has been reported as kidney failure.
Buss's tremendous contributions to the Lakers will certainly be remembered as his friends have already started releasing statements about his inspirational impact on the NBA.
Dallas Mavericks owner took to his Twitter to make a statement after hearing the news.
"RIP Jerry Buss. Your encouragement and support along with your stories of staying true to yourself had an enormous impact on me."
L.A. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa also released a statement "Dr. Jerry Buss was a cornerstone of the Los Angeles sports community and his name will always be synonymous with his beloved Lakers. It was through his stewardship that the Lakers brought "Showtime" basketball and numerous championship rings to this great city."
