Mark ‘Coonrippy’ Brown Runs For Tenn. Governor to Get Seized Pet Raccoon Back

There are many things that pet owners may do for their pet, but a Tennessee man is taking that to a “whole nuther level.” Mark “Coonrippy” Brown is going to run for governor in order to have his beloved pet raccoon returned to his home. Mark “Coonrippy” Brown became a national celebrity last year when Tennessee officials came a knocking and confiscated his pet raccoon Rebekah reports the Huffington Post.

Brown has quite the reputation around his area in Tennessee, for spending special moments with his pet. Some of those endearing moments include showering with Rebekah. In fact his internet You Tube video showing him showering with his pet raccoon has generated nearly 400,000 views and a lot of popularity for him and his now absent pet.

But the gun dealer feels that the state officials that came and snatched up his beloved pet did not seem to share the same degree of affection that internet viewers have for Rebekah. Since July, according to the Huffington Post, the 55-year-old has been battling with state wildlife officials to have the raccoon rejoin the homestead they both shared.

While some may find Mark “Coonrippy” Brown’s pet selection slightly over the edge, he is quite comfortable with have Rebekah as part of his Gallatin, Tennessee household. Unfortunately, it seems that one of Brown’s neighbors did not take kindly to having a pet raccoon wandering about his home and notified authorities. They arrived and then considered, what the neighbor considered an unsuitable pet, suggested the Huffington Post

Now with fire in his heart and a determination to light up the election year in Tennessee with a gubernatorial campaign call for the return of Rebekah, Brown launched his bid on January 4th. Even his video speech has generated increased interest in his bid to take on current Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam in the Republican primary in August.

Who knows, if enough Tennessee voters take a liking to this seemingly long shot candidate for governor, Mark “Coonrippy” Brown may just start a whole new trend for animal loving candidates for office. Although, just be careful when you’re around Brown not to wear a coonskin cap.
