Mark Consuelos loves nothing more than starring in the title role of dad.
If the actor is not posing next to wife Kelly Ripa on the red carpet, Consuelos is busy shuttling his three kids (Michael, Lola & Joaquin) to school, extracurricular activities and playdates.
But on this particular day, Consuelos is at Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan trying to make a difference.
Consuelos, along with famous personalities Joey Lawrence, Ali Larter and LaLa Anthony are banning together to help the folks at Pampers launch their Little Miracles Campaign, which will donate 30,000 care packages to families of level three Neonatal intensive Care Units across the country.
During the event, Examiner caught up with Consuelos and asked the question inquiring minds want to know, “Are you replacing Regis Philbin?”
Examiner: With so many organizations to choose from, why pick this one?
Mark Consuelos: My first son Michael was in the Neonatal Unit for a week. He was completely fine and it was more just a precautionary thing than anything else. He had a little bit of a fever and they just wanted to keep an eye on him. Being here, brought me back to that moment. I am just glad Kelly wasn't here because we would have left carrying a few babies (laughs).
Examiner: You must have been terrified?
Mark Consuelos: It was mortifying. They start throwing things around of what could be wrong and you are like, "what?" It is really tough on the parents and exhausting too but the end result was amazing.
Examiner: If you had to pick an adjective to describe yourself as a father what would it be?
Mark Consuelos: I would say old-school. I am very traditional and I am the disciplinarian.
Examiner: If you had to pick an adjective to describe Kelly as a mother what would it be?
Mark Consuelos: Perfect.
Examiner: So you are more of the bad cop?
Mark Consuelos: Yes. I love that role and I am fine with it.
Examiner: Why are you the bad cop?
Mark Consuelos: I have a little more O-C-D. I like things to have rules, I like order and I like schedules.
Examiner: Are you a push over when it comes to your daughter?
Mark Consuelos: Oh yeah!
Examiner: How do you divide yourself into three's so you can conquer each of your kid’s schedules and homework assignments?
Mark Consuelos: I just do it. There is nothing more we love than being home with our kids.
Examiner: What have your kids done to really upset you?
Mark Consuelos: We have really good kids. Maybe if they forget their homework or forget to turn it in.
Examiner: Is there room for a fourth?
Mark Consuelos: We are in a sweet spot where we have no diapers, the kids sleep through the night and when they wake up they don't come running into our room. I mean I can read the paper again.
Examiner: What was your reaction to Regis stepping down?
Mark Consuelos: Regis is so amazing. I mean he is an institution. Everyone is sad to see him step down. I know he wants to do other stuff and I am excited at the prospect of doing some stuff with him.
Examiner: How did Kelly take the news?
Mark Consuelos: She loves Regis and he has done so much for our family. Although she is sad, Kelly also really respects him and is both happy and excited for him.
Examiner: There are reports indicating you might be sitting in Regis' chair. Is there any truth to that?
Mark Consuelos: I love doing that show and Kelly never lets you fail. Kelly has chemistry with everyone. As a fan I would love to see someone else on that show like Anderson Cooper or even Andy Cohen. I mean I annoy my wife (laughs) so I doubt I will be sitting there.
