On May 5, dance pro Mark Ballas opened “Dancing with the Stars” with a live performance of his new single titled “Get My Name.” The talented pro has been involved with “DWTS” for 14 seasons, but has won only once in season 6 with partner Kristi Yamaguchi. However, on Monday night, Ballas hit a grand slam and received heaps of praise from past partners, celebrities, and fellow pros about his new single. Lisa Reynolds from The Wall Street Journal said that Mark’s performance had shades of early Michael Jackson or Justin Timberlake. It was the perfect opening and a real feather in the pro's cap.

Last night was not the first time that Mark Ballas stole the spotlight on “Dancing with the Stars.” In 2010, he and Val Chmerkovskiy took center stage when they dueled on the dance floor. They started off musically, with Mark on the guitar and Val on the violin. The talented friends then moved to the dance floor. The end result was an amazing performance that spectacularly showcased the duo’s wide-ranging musical and dance talents. To check it out, head to YouTube.

On Monday night, Mark Ballas once again took center stage when he sang and danced to “Get My Name.” As posted by Singersroom.com on Tuesday, the new song is available on iTunes and more than 180 digital retail outlets. Ballas is excited about his new music and where it is today after working in the studio for two years to perfect his new album. Mark’s longtime friend, Derek Hough, choreographed the music video for “Get My Name.”

In addition to opening “DWTS,” Mark Ballas also performed two dances with partner Candace Cameron Bure. For their individual Foxtrot, the two received a combined judges’ score of 36. Be sure to watch the video above from ABC Videos on YouTube for a repeat performance. They also danced a cotemporary routine with Charlie and Sharna. The side-by-side dance was well received and the quartet received a score of 38 from Len Goodman, Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli, and "DWTS" guest judge Abby Lee Miller.

Candace survived elimination to dance another week, but Monday night’s social media buzz focused mainly on Mark Ballas and the debut of his brand new single. “@MarkBallas totally rocked with his opening number. So proud,” Bruno Tonioli posted. “Wowza. @MarkBallas you are truly a #triplethreat,” Amy Purdy added. Nicole Snooki Polizzi tweeted, “Love the single!" “What a way to start a show with that opening,” fellow pro dancer Anna Trebunskaya wrote.

The semi-final round of “Dancing with the Stars” airs at 8 p.m. EST on Monday, May 12. As revealed on MediaNet, the finale of “DWTS” is a 2-night event that includes the final performances on Monday, May 19, to be followed by a two-hour results show on Tuesday when a new mirror ball winner will be crowned.
