The finale of “Dancing with the Stars” begins tonight but it looks like Mark Ballas may not be taking part in it. The pro dancer was injured during rehearsals with celebrity Candace Cameron Bure, as first reported by People on Sunday. He is said to have dislocated his shoulder while trying to do a complicated lift with his partner this season. The couple was rehearsing for their freestyle routine.

Ballas was rushed by ambulance to get his injury taken care of. He has since been released. However, it is unclear as to whether the 27-year-old dancer will be able to perform on the ballroom floor for the finale. He is saying that he will continue to dance tonight but he has been advised not to complicate his shoulder injury even further.

This is not the first time that the pro dancer has had this kind of injury. He also dislocated his shoulder back in 2007 during season five with his talented partner, Sabrina Bryan. Ballas and Cameron Bure are just one of the four couples that have made it to the finale of this competition. They are eyeing that mirror ball trophy along with Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Meryl Davis, Peta Murgatroyd and James Maslow, and also Derek Hough and Amy Purdy. They have surprisingly gotten enough fan votes to make it this far in hopes of grabbing the title.

Good Morning America” was actually on hand with cameras rolling at the exact moment that Mark Ballas injured himself. As soon as he hit the floor, you could see him writhing around in obvious pain with fellow dancer Cheryl Burke by his side. It sounds like things are getting quite intense for all of the dancers. Derek Hough even admitted that he almost got knocked out by partner Amy Purdy’s metal legs while they were rehearsing. Doing those lifts with the Olympian can be tricky from the sounds of it.

In the meantime, Ballas was seen afterwards wearing a sling at the studio. A final decision as to whether he will be able to dance on night one of the two-night finale is still up in the air at this point. Candace Cameron Bure is rehearsing with a new pro dancer just in case, but it will sure to be disappointing for both of them if he is unable to participate.
