Marjorie Merriweather Post’s great-granddaughter Nedenia Post Dye was found slain at her hotel in Honduras, according to a Dec. 30 Palm Beach Daily News report. The Post heiress and luxury spa owner was found stabbed to death in her spa on Roatan Island on Dec. 22.
Fox News reports that Roatan Police Chief Alex Madrid said authorities have arrested local singer Lenin Arana Carlos, who sources say Dye was trying to get off drugs. Carlos told police that he is innocent, and that he and the heiress were romantically involved.
“She was a good woman who worked with young people at risk, drug addicts and alcoholics,” Roatan Chief Madrid told the Associated Press. Dye is a former resident of Santa Monica, Calif, who in her own words inherited a love of adventure and risk from her great-grandmother, Fox News reports.
According to the Palm Beach Daily News, Merriweather Post was a businesswoman and socialite, who inherited the cereal company that subsequently evolved into General Foods Inc.
