Mariska Hargitay and Alec Baldwin are coming together for a special “Law & Order: SVU” episode in which Baldwin will guest star and Hargitay will have her directorial debut. While Alec Baldwin is expected to be busy this spring 2014 with his upcoming return to NBC, the actor will be making a guest appearance in a March episode for the perennially popular “Law & Order: SVU” series, confirms a representative for the TV show. MSN TV News also adds this Friday, Feb. 21, 2014, that the special episode will be a big one for Olivia Benson actress Mariska Hargitay as well, because she will be directing it.
Known to be good friends even away from the film set, a Mariska Hargitay, Alec Baldwin combination is sure to make for an outstanding hour of “Special Victims Unit” show time. At this point in production, “Law & Order: SVU” producers and spokespeople are keeping quiet on just what Baldwin’s role will be, however. Nonetheless, it has been confirmed that Hargitay will also be making her debut as director instead of just starring as the lovely yet strong Olivia Benson on the show.
Alec Baldwin is mostly known in recent memory for starring on the hit series “30 Rock” for an impressive seven seasons, nabbing himself a total of two Emmy awards for his leading role in the process. The actor did have his talk show on MSNBC recently canceled due to him saying some anti-gay remarks, though. Mariska Hargitay, meanwhile, is known for being a “Law & Order: SVU” favorite for years now, being featured as major character Olivia Benson. While many people feared the show might struggle with the loss of actor Christopher Meloni as Detective Elliot Stabler this most recent season, “Special Victims Unit” is still raking in strong TV views and ratings.
The first confirmation that a Mariska Hargitay, Alec Baldwin special episode would be happening on “Law & Order: SVU” was made by The Wrap earlier this week. With so much acting experience on the show, Hargitay is expected to no doubt do a great job in her directorial debut.
