Academy Award winner Marisa Tomei will be appearing in season 3 of Who Do You Think You Are? The actress appeared on the talk show Live with Regis and Kelly today, to promote her movie Crazy, Stupid, Love. The film will be released July 29.
She told hosts Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa that she'll be boarding a plane for somewhere unknown, about a week from today. Tomei presumes she'll be taken off to Italy, but given the nature of this series, she's not entirely confident with that guess.
Tomei has already been told that he mother is 13% Subsaharan African, based on a swab test.
Regis Philbin related that a professor he previously talked with had tracked Philbin's ancestory back to a point, where he determined the two of them were cousins; the professor was African American.
The third season of the series will debut February 2012. The series airs on Citytv in Canada.
Started on the BBC in 2004, Who Do You Think You Are? was adapted for American audiences by executive producer Lisa Kudrow. The first two seasons included Sarah Jessica Parker, Matthew Broderick, Spike Lee, Rosie O'Donnell, Lionel Richie, and Steve Buscemi. A Canadian version of the series aired in 2007-2008, with guests including Steven Page, Margot Kidder, Randy Bachman, and Don Cherry. The series was mostly unnoticed at the time.
Tomei will be appearing in The Ides of March on October 7, and Lucky Them, in 2012.
