MARION COUNTY, FL (October 2, 2013) – The Marion County Sheriff's Office
Traffic Unit was conducting a security check at the Pilot station located at 4032 N.W.
Highway 326 when they observed a disturbance in the parking lot. Contact was made with
the subjects at which time officers smelled marijuana coming from their vehicle.
A Sheriff's K-9 unit arrived and the K-9 alerted on the vehicle for containing drugs. A search revealed
382 grams of synthetic marijuana packaged for distribution, bundles of plastic baggies, 3
scales, and a marijuana pipe. William Griffin was arrested and transported to the Marion
County Jail and Ryan Young was issued a Notice to Appear for possession of drug
This arrest comes less than a month after the Marion CountySheriff’s Office received an anonymous tip concerning suspicious activity at a closed business located at 10155 SW County Road 484, Dunnellon. The tipster called around 7:30 p.m., Monday, September 16, 2013 and provided
details about the manufacturing of K2 and that the men, at the closed business, were
loading K2 into a moving truck.
Once the scene was secured by Marion County Sheriff’s Office patrol units, the Unified
Drug Enforcement Strike Team (UDEST) arrived. It was then learned that the building was
used as a large scale manufacturing location for synthetic marijuana. Inside of the building
were several bales of synthetic marijuana as well as scales, empty packages, cases of
acetone, more than 11,600 prepared packages of K2 and several cement mixers used to
mix the product. Also, there were several containers containing the finished product
waiting to be packaged as well unfinished products awaiting mixture.
Fares Rabah, DOB: 03/20/72; Ahmed Mohsin, DOB: 06/20/77; and Ahmad
Warayat, DOB: 3/9/86 were each arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a controlled
substance - synthetic marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia.
