Mario Tricoci Hair Salons & Day Spas continues to pave the way for young talent with the sixth “Mario, Make Me a Model” competition. In partnership with Wella Professionals and supported by contributing partners providing experiences for the contestants, the 2014 program will launch the careers of five finalists and one winner as they strive for success in the modeling industry.

Since the program’s inception in 2008, more than 2,000 contestants have come to the open model calls; 26 young women and men have gone through the program as finalists; and nearly all of them have secured contracts as working models appearing in spreads in CS, Michigan Avenue magazine, Chicago magazine and on runways for Carolina Herrera, Yigal Azrouel and from Chicago to New York, Milan and Paris.

Five Open Model Calls This year, the program will commence with five open model calls (up from four in prior years) starting on February 24 at the 900 N. Michigan Avenue Salon in Chicago and following at the Oak Brook, Orland Park, Schaumburg and Crystal Lake Mario Tricoci locations over the next two days. No prior modeling experience is required. Individuals with current representation are ineligible.

The Competition Tricoci and a panel of experts from Factor Women and Chosen Model Management modeling agencies, Michigan Avenue magazine, Fitness Formula Club s, and Matt Ferguson Photography will select five finalists to undergo a two-month model transformation.

All “Mario, Make Me a Model” finalists will receive a makeover from Mario Tricoci Hair Salons & Day Spas and personal training with Fitness Formula Clubs. Factor Women and Chosen Model Management will provide print and runway training, as well as insider knowledge designed to help the contestants understand the ins and outs of the modeling industry. Finalists will all appear in a 15 second commercial on CBS2 Chicago; model in a photo shoot with photographer Matt Ferguson for a two-page spread in Michigan Avenue Magazine; and walk in a major runway show with professional models.

Runway Show The finale of the competition is a runway show that, for the first time ever, will take place in the spring on May 16th, 2014. “We moved the program from fall to spring this year to reach more young talent,” said Megan Bueschel, Senior Vice President & Chief Marketing Officer for Mario Tricoci Hair Salons & Day Spas. “Previously we built our program to culminate with Chicago’s fall fashion week by holding our open model calls in the late summer. This was difficult for students starting a new academic year in August. The Prizes The winner of “Mario, Make Me a Model” 2014 will be determined live at the end of the fashion show on May 16th, 2014. In addition to the finalist prize package, the winner of “Mario, Make Me a Model” will receive consideration for a contract with Factor Women Management or Chosen Model Management and an all-inclusive 5-night trip for two to Riu Palace Las Americas in Cancun, Mexico. The package includes meals and drinks at the resort, round-trip airfare, and limousine transportation to Chicago O-Hare airport. The winner will also receive $500 in COSE™ cosmetics from Mario Tricoci; and a one-year membership to Fitness Formula Clubs.
