One could argue that console gaming wouldn't exist as it does today if not for the existence of Nintendo's plumber mascot, Mario. Earlier this year, the mustached hero, celebrated his 25th anniversary which naturaly sparked remembrance of day of gaming yore.
What if, however, Mario were as important to other forms of media as he has been to video games. The famous Italian has been portrayed as other gaming stars, rendered in classically painted portrait form, and now shown as movie stand-in.
The following comic depits the portly plumber taking on the role of Frodo from Lord of the Rings. (click the image to the left to view the piece larger).
About the Characters of Gaming Series:
Originally created to honor the most famous characters found in the world of video games, the series became much more popular once original (and highly stylized) art began to accompany each individual character's biography.
The art encompasses stars from gaming's past and present by featuring classic characters such as Pac-Man, Sonic the Hedgehog, and everybody's favorite plumber Mario; while mixing in current favorite.
