During Nintendo's E3 Press Conference on June 10, they announced the retirement of gaming icon "Mario". This news followed the announcement of Monolith Soft's "Xenoblade Chronicles X", which will be due out sometime in 2015.

Mario is a well known character from various series, including "Super Mario World", "Super Mario Galaxy", and various titles from the Nintendo era.

With the retirement of Mario it was also announced that a new character would take his place: Maria. She was shown to be a sexualized female version of Mario, featuring a tight fitting red tanktop, shorts with suspenders, and the classic red hat sporting an "M". No additional details have been confirmed, though they did say a demo will be released later in the month. No exact date has been revealed.

We have reached out to Nintendo for more information on "Super Maria", and will update readers as soon as more information comes through.
