Mario Tricoci Hair Salons & Day Spas and their partners announce 57 contestants who have been selected to return for the next round of elimination in the Mario, Make Me A Model 2014 competition. These candidates were selected from nearly 400 hopefuls who attended one of five open model calls in Chicago, Oak Brook, Schaumburg, Orland Park and Crystal Lake in February. These young men and women were recognized for their charisma, confidence and readiness for a transformational makeover. They come from as far as Liverpool, New York to Twin Lakes and Oshkosh, Wisconsin and as close as the City of Chicago.

“We are impressed with the quality of talent we saw this year. We had a candidate who drove three hours and another who waited for seven hours to have their chance to meet our panel of judges,” says Mario Tricoci Hair Salons & Day Spas SVP/Chief Marketing Officer, Megan Bueschel.

The Semi Finals will take place on Thursday, March 13 at 10:00 AM at the Allerton Hotel (701 N. Michigan Avenue) in Chicago. The more than 50 candidates will walk a short 20 foot runway in front of judges from Mario Tricoci Hair Salons & Day Spas, Factor Women, Chosen Model Management, Fitness Formula Clubs and Matt Ferguson Photography.

From this portion of the competition, seven semi finalists will be chosen to participate in the first four weeks of the training program including hair cut and color at Mario Tricoci Hair Salons & Day Spas, runway training with Factor Women or Chosen Model Management, and workouts at Fitness Formula Clubs with personal trainers. During this time the public is invited to vote for their favorite contestant online or via text. As of April 11, the last elimination bringing the group down to five will be based on the contestant scores from their training, makeovers and public vote.

The final five contestants will continue with five more weeks of training plus shoot a group fashion spread, each will tape their own 15 second TV spot, will pose for a print ad for a national brand and finally will walk the runway in a major fashion show with professional models in May.

The 2014 program is expected to launch the careers of five finalists and one winner as they strive for success in the modeling industry. Since the program’s inception in 2008, more than 2,500 contestants have come to the open model calls; 26 young women and men have gone through the program as finalists; and nearly all of them have secured contracts as working models appearing in spreads in CS, Michigan Avenue Magazine, Chicago Magazine and on runways all over Chicago, as well as in New York, Milan and Paris.
