Mario Tricoci Hair Salons & Day Spas and their partners announced 7 semi finalists who remain in the Mario, Make Me a Model 2014 competition. These candidates were selected from 41 hopefuls (down from 400 who came out for open model calls!) who participated in a semi final runway competition on Thursday, March 13.

Here are the semi-finalists:

  1. Desiree White, age 22 from Chicago IL
  2. Julia Swibes, age 16 from Munster, IN
  3. William Lott, age 19 from LaPorte, IN
  4. Ashley House, age 17 from Philo, IL
  5. Kaitlyn Kush, age 17 from Oak Forest, IL
  6. Joseph Dolecki, age 21 from Villa Park, IL
  7. Aireal Boyd, age 24 from Fargo, North Dakota

At the Semi Final competition at the Allerton Hotel in Chicago on Thursday, March 13, 41 candidates walked a 20-foot runway in front of judges from Mario Tricoci Hair Salons & Day Spas, Michigan Avenue Magazine, Factor Women, Chosen Model Management, Fitness Formula Clubs and Matt Ferguson Photography.

With over a 120+ spectators in attendance the judges selected these seven semi finalists based on who will participate in four weeks of a training program including hair cut and color at Mario Tricoci Hair Salons & Day Spas, runway training with Factor Women or Chosen Model Management, and workouts at Fitness Formula Clubs with personal trainers. During this time the public is invited to vote for their favorite contestant online or via text.

Online voting for the seven semi-finalists will begin Tuesday, March 19. In mid April, the last elimination will be made based on the contestant scores from their training, makeovers and public vote bringing the group down to five.

The final five contestants will continue with five more weeks of training plus shoot a group fashion spread for Michigan Avenue Magazine. Each will tape their own 15 second TV spot and pose for a print ad for Jockey International and finally will walk the runway in a major fashion show with professional models in May.

The 2014 program is expected to launch the careers of four finalists and one winner as they strive for success in the modeling industry. Since the program’s inception in 2008, more than 2,500 contestants have come to the open model calls; 26 young women and men have gone through the program as finalists; and nearly all of them have secured contracts as working models appearing in spreads in CS, Michigan Avenue Magazine, Chicago Magazine and on runways all over Chicago, as well as in New York, Milan and Paris.
