Mario Lopez promises to reveal behind-the-scenes stories of his personal life and his careers as an actor and TV host in his memoir, "Just Between Us, " which will be released on Sept. 23, 2014. The announcement about the memoir was made by the book's publisher Celebra/Penguin Books on June 3, 2014. "Extra," one of the TV shows hosted by Lopez, also reported the news.

In a press release, Celebra/Penguin said that the book (which was co-written by Steve Santagati) "reveals his most intimate, never-before-told stories, including the details of his often tumultuous and largely public love life — giving readers a look at the ups and downs of his romantic past leading up to a happily-ever-after with his beautiful wife and their two children."

As an actor, Lopez (who is 40) is best known for playing school athlete A.C. Slater in the TV comedy series "Saved By the Bell," which was on the air from 1989 to 1993.

Lopez made this statement about his memoir in the press release: “I share my most intimate stories and pivotal moments, some of the best and most important times of my life and the heartbreaking mistakes that still haunt me. There are no do-overs in life, so I had to learn to pick myself up and move forward, never forgetting the hard-won lessons.”

Celebra/Penguin has previously published two health books co-written by Lopez: 2008's "Mario Lopez's Knockout Fitness" and the 2011 diet book "Extra Lean: The Fat-Burning Plan That Changes the Way You Eat for Life."

Lopez has been hosting the nationally syndicated "Extra" (a celebrity news show) since 2008, when he replaced Mark McGrath. In addition, Lopez has hosted the talent contest "America's Best Dance Crew" (which was on the air from 2008 to 2012), the Miss America Pageant, the NCLR Alma Awards and Fox's "New Year's Eve Live."

In October 2012, Lopez and Khloe Kardashian joined "The X Factor" U.S. as co-hosts for the show's second season. Kardashian was fired, but Lopez continued as host of the show for its third and final season in 2013. Fox officially cancelled "The X Factor" U.S. in February 2014.

For several years, he has also worked with Latino-oriented TV network NUVOtv, where he hosts "Mario Lopez: One-on-One" and is an executive producer of the dating reality show "Love and Salsa" (hosted by Lopez's second wife, Courtney) and the docuseries "Tequila King," about the Mexican entrepreneur Eric Buccio launching the Casa Mexico tequila brand in the United States.

Mario and Courtney Lopez have two children: daughter Gia Francesca (born on Sept. 11, 2010) and son Dominic (who was born on Sept. 9, 2013). Mario and Courtney Lopez were married on Dec. 1, 2012, in Punta Mita, Mexico. The wedding was televised a week later on a TLC special.

The couple met in 2006, when they were in the cast of the Broadway musical "A Chorus Line," and they began dating in 2008. Courtney (who is 31) changed her last name from Mazza to Lopez after she got married.

Mario Lopez was previously married to actress Ali Landry in 2004, but the marriage was annulled after two weeks. Landry has said in several interviews that he cheated on her before and during the marriage. In his memoir, Lopez will no doubt tell his side of the story about why his marriage to Landry fell apart. Over the years, he has not publicly discussed the details of the breakup. He might have alluded to his failed marriage in his statement about "Just Between Us" revealing his "heartbreaking mistakes that still haunt me."

In other news about Mario Lopez, he has signed on to host "Pepsi Presents iHeartRadio Album Release Party with Ed Sheeran" which takes places at the iHeartRadio Theater in Burbank, Calif., on June 17, 2014. The event is to celebrate the release of Sheeran's second album, "x," which is set for release on June 23, 2014. The special will be broadcast on select radio stations and Webcast on the official iHeartRadio website on June 23, 2014.
