If you have a Nintendo Wii U that doesn't get much action, you now have a window of time when you can expect to blow the dust off the console. During a Nintendo Corporate meeting, CEO Satoru Iwata confirmed, at least, the month that we will see the 8th version in the iconic Mario Kart franchise. Later, Analyst David Gibson (@gibbogame) revealed the news on Twitter, along with a bit of other information involving the Wii U Gamepad.

Gamepad profile to be increased, Mario Kart 8 to be released in May, fast start up of Gamepad designed so can play without TV quickly

The announcement throws the recent rumors of a March release under the bus. Mario Kart 8 will look to help the company boost sales numbers as Nintendo posted a large loss for 2013. Lastly, NintendoEverything.com has a pic of the official Japanese box art for Mario Kart 8. It is the main picture for this article, and its possible the art could change for an American or European release. Stay tuned for more information involving Mario Kart 8 or any Nintendo announcements.
