Nintendo revealed Tuesday that it plans to release three DLC packs for “Mario Golf: World Tour” for the Nintendo 3DS. Each pack will comes with new courses as well as a new playable character when they start releasing in May and a Season Pass will be available as well featuring a special playable version of Mario.
“We’re letting fans expand their experience with Mario Golf: World Tour,” Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing, said in a press release. “Some players might be content hitting the links on the numerous courses already included with the game, while others will appreciate the option of being able to add to their fairway fun with new courses and characters.”
The “Mario Golf: World Tour” base game comes with 10 courses and 126 hours, which is the same as previous games in the series according to Nintendo. However, each new pack will come with two 18-hole courses and one new playable character.
The first pack to be released will be the Mushroom Pack on May 2, alongside the release of the game and comes with Toadette. The Flower Pack will be released later in May and come with Nabbitt while the Star Pack will be released in June and feature Rosalina.
Each pack will cost $5.99 separately and can be purchased from Toad’s Booth in the main menu of “Mario Golf: World Tour”. A Season Pass will be available for $14.99 though and comes with all three packs plus a special playable Gold Mario.
Gold Mario has a special Golden Flower shot that gains coins for every yard it travels. He won’t be limited to just Season Pass owners though as he will also be available once all three packs are released.
“Mario Golf: World Tour” owners that are interested in the DLC packs will be able to try before they buy. Trial Tournaments will be available to download for each pack and allows players to participate in online tournaments.
