The Marines Corps Color Guard from Camp Pendleton will be in Los Angeles this Friday. The occasion is the new Military Appreciation Night program of the LA Galaxy Soccer Team. LA Galaxy is joining dozens of other sports organizations in finding ways to thank our military. The Galaxy program goes beyond discounts and focuses on free tickets to Friday’s home game against DC United at the Home Depot Center in Los Angeles.
1) LA Galaxy will match each purchase of an individual ticket with a ticket to be donated to military service personnel
2) Fans can purchase a ticket to be donated directly to military service personnel
3) Season ticket holders can donate tickets to be distributed to military service personnel
This special event will feature patriotic programming to make the evening especially memorable and show DC United that patriotism is a coast-to-coast phenomenon. The Marines Corps Color Guard will present the colors before the start of the National Anthem. Then the First Marine Division will play the National Anthem and local Air Force recruits will be sworn in during a special induction ceremony on the playing field at Home Depot Center.
Several sports museums, including the San Diego Hall of Champions and the International Swimming Hall of Fame, will be offering military families free admission all summer by supporting the Blue Star Museums program of the National Endowment for the Arts. The Armed Forces Military Museum in Largo, Florida is also participating. For a list of local museums participating in this free admission program, read this link.
