Marilyn Monroe x-rays are being auctioned off featuring six images of of the legendary sex symbols face according to Thursday, October 10 reports from CNN.
The Marilyn Monroe X-rays are labeled under the alias name of "Joan Newman," and more than five decades after Monroe's death items belonging to the star are still a hot commodity among collectors.
Monroe's facial x-rays are currently being auctioned off at Julien's Auctions. The x-rays are described as being dated June 7, 1962 with the images being taken just one week after Monroe turned 36, and two months before her death.
Back in 1962 it was reported that Monroe had been experiencing a "tenderness" in her nose, and was taken to visit plastic surgeon Michael Gurdin.
The surgeon claimed at the time he did not find any breaks in Miss Monroe's nose, but upon closer examination by the auction house it is now believed that Monroe could have been suffering from a hairline fracture.
Medical records retrieved have all suggested that Marilyn Monroe may have undergone the knife receiving plastic surgery corrections for a chin deformity that could;d have been the result of a botched cartilage implant.
Monroe's med record all under the same alias also reveal in 1957 Monroe was treated for an ectopic pregnancy during the time the "Seven year Itch" star as married to Arthur Miller.
Martin Nolan, executive director of Julien's Auction stated to vanity Fair that:
"Even though X-rays are not tangible like a musical instrument or clothing it's part of the story of Marilyn that people are buying.
"There is such a demand for her worldwide even though it is 50 years since she passed away. Honestly, I could have an auction every day for Marilyn Monroe and the items would be sought after."
The Marilyn Monroe x-rays are estimated to sell between $20,000 and $30,000 and have interested bidders from across the world.
