The man, 36-year-old David Wayne Jordan, was seen by a Whatcom County sheriff's employee. He apparently stepped out of his pickup truck and used a bow to shoot the marijuana-wrapped arrow towards the second-floor recreation area of the jail, but he missed. Instead, the arrow ended up on the roof of the jail.
Jordan spent 20 days earlier this month in that same jail for assault and resisting arrest.
Sheriff Bill Elfo says the man told deputies that he was aiming for a squirrel, not at the jail, but when asked why he needed to attach marijuana to the arrow, he couldn't offer an explanation.
Shooting a marijuana-wrapped arrow at a jail certainly is creative, but not very smart. Jordan was arrested for investigation of introducing contraband into the jail, obstructing law enforcement and resisting arrest.
