The Michigan State Police, (MSP), is asking for public help in sniffing out illegal marijuana growing sites in the state according to their news release May 27, 2011.
"The Michigan State Police (MSP) and other law enforcement agencies are asking citizens to be on the lookout for indications of illegal marijuana growing this summer. If you come across suspicious activity or an area that may be an illegal marijuana grow site, immediately notify law enforcement officials," stated the MSP news release.
The police are warning that these growing operations are often part of drug trafficking organizations, (DTO), and usually involve other types of drugs as well.
Right now it would be wise to watch for drunk drivers this holiday weekend, instead of focusing on pot plants. It would be understandable if your children came upon some of these plants and maybe started chewing on them so if you are in some remote areas where these pot plants could be growing make sure you keep an eye on them. Not the plants, the kids.
The police agencies know folks will be traveling this holiday weekend, having picnics, and camping out who may run into tracks of marijuana fields. If you do, they would like you to report it, and not hang around the area.
How to identify illegal grow sites is included in the MSP's news release, and what steps to take if you do find something.
Will you be out looking for marijuana plants this holiday weekend?
Peace...
