A marijuana cannon discovered and confiscated by Mexican police this week has made officials and the public at large realize that new and certainly more creative ways of “smuggling” weed across the U.S. border are in the works, Yahoo! News reported this Thursday, Feb. 28.
Border police have allegedly discovered a “marijuana cannon” that they announced has been used to launch packages of pot over the Mexican border fence and into California. The constructed cannon was made of plastic pipe, and allegedly powered by air pressure from an adjusted car engine. The device could fire wrapped packages of nearly 30 pounds of weed per shot.
The marijuana cannon was first found this Tuesday after U.S. officers connected with Mexican police, noticing that they had found several large amounts of drug packages on the opposite side of the border. A later examination of the area found that the cans of weed were shot from over 500 feet away with a “cannon of sorts” and a “compressed pressure tank.” The police added, however, that they have discovered similar instruments in the past to “smuggle” pot over the border, and will remain “vigilant” for new devices in the future.
