Marietta native Doug Jones returns to Gladiators

The Gwinnett Gladiators announced on Tuesday that forward Doug Jones has been returned to the Gladiators from the Texas Stars of the American Hockey League.

Jones played in four games with Texas after being called up to the AHL on February 26th. It was the second time this season he has been called up. Jones scored his first AHL goal in a 5-4 shootout loss to Oklahoma City on March 2nd. He finished with two points (one goal, one assist) while on recall to the AHL.

Jones was held scoreless in two games with the San Antonio Rampage in his first stint in the AHL from February 1st through February 10th.

The Marietta, Georgia native currently leads the Gladiators rookies with 44 points (18 goals, 26 assists) in 54 games this season. His 44 points ranks sixth among ECHL rookies in scoring.

Jones played four seasons at Dartmouth College from 2008-2012 before he was signed by Gwinnett. At Dartmouth, Jones totaled 107 points in 127 career collegiate games.

The return of Jones gives the Gladiators the opportunity to have three 20-goal scorers this season. Evan Bloodoff and Casey Pierro-Zabotel each notched their 20th goal of the year in action last week.

Gwinnett will play six of their final seven regular season games at The Arena at Gwinnett Center beginning on Thursday when they host the Orlando Solar Bears in the first of three games in four days.
