A disabled Marietta man was arrested this Sunday for the shooting death of his 66-year-old wife in their East Cobb home, Cobb County police reports.
David Rex York Jr., 67, was arrested at close to 8:30 a.m on Sunday after police were dispatched to his home off of Bishop Lake Road. The call was made to the police by someone who identified himself as the husband of Lynn York. He stated that his wife had been shot. Upon arrival, authorities found Lynn York dead inside the home with a single gunshot wound to the head.
After investigations, David York Jr. was arrested and charged with felony murder and aggravated assault.
The couple had been married for thirty years and lived in the affluent East Hampton subdivision for close to two decades. Neighbors were shocked to hear of the incident, claiming that David York Jr. used a wheelchair and was in weak health due to his Agent Orange exposure from his time in the military.
Additionally, the couple were known to be congenial and outgoing, frequently visiting neighbors and attending a community church.
"They've been in my home for social activity. We go to the same church," said Mara Miller, a neighbor.
David York Jr. remains in the Cobb County Detention Center with no bond.
